Members
Hi, I’m Connor, I have recently stepped into the role of chair on the MHPS Board. For those of you who don’t know me here is a bit more about me and my family:
I have lived in Mullaloo since 2012 with my wife, Eloise, and our four children. My eldest two graduated from MHPS and attend Ocean Reef Senior High School, my youngest two are in Jessamy Year 5 and Quinn Year 6.
My family love spending time together and being part of our community. We are happiest when our street family is in our yard, with lots of extra kids adding to the chaos. We love a little of everything - beach, camping, fishing, music and sport - especially netball. My wife and I were instrumental in setting up the Shooting Stars Netball team (who you’ll see me coaching on each Friday arvo), this led to the establishment of the Mullaloo Bats (for the Year 6 cohort) and the Mullaloo Minis (for the year 5’s).
My various retail, sales and management roles have led me to my current role as Commercial Director at a local, not-for-profit media organisation that makes an incredible difference. For example, in July our listeners to donated 10,709 items (sleeping bags, PJ’s, toiletries etc) which we collected and distributed to key agencies that support those who are sleeping rough. I get great satisfaction from making a difference, whether that be in the community or helping businesses grow through successful marketing that builds strong, lasting relationships.
Within my current employment I have managed to build on and hone the leadership skills I gained from businesses like Wesfarmers, RAC and Mars. I have a strong track record of exceeding KPI’s, budget expectations and developing staff and have held previous board roles, including that as a Treasurer on a not-for-profit board as well as on a Council of Owners for an apartment complex. It has been a pleasure holding these roles and I have enjoyed strengthening their relevant financial positions.
As my children have progressed through the school years, family life has shifted focus which has meant that Eloise and I have not been able to participate and volunteer in school life to the degree we once did. However, I believe that the best educational outcomes for our children come when we as parents are actively involved in the process which is why I originally nominated to be on the Board. Whilst I have served my original term, I believe I still have a valuable contribution to the school board, given this I would relish the opportunity to continue to work with the Board to make our school as successful as it can be.
Trudy Jones - Principal
I am privileged to have joined as the Principal of Mullaloo Heights Primary School in Term 3 2021. My experience spans over 25 years and across a diverse range of school settings in Perth Northern suburbs, The Pilbara and the UK. Early in my teaching career I developed a strong passion for students with additional needs which led to further study and teaching experience in a variety of Education Support settings. After caring for my own young children, I began a journey into leadership where I have held positions for over 14years. With a strong passion for public school education, my commitment as a school leader of Mullaloo Heights Primary School is to ensure every student is engaged in learning, has a strong sense of belonging, is connected to community, and fully supported to strive to be the best they can be. I look forward to working alongside all school staff and the school community to develop the skills and knowledge needed to ensure this happens.
Michael Adlam - Staff Representative
I proudly joined Mullaloo Heights Primary School in October, 2016. I have vast experience in public school education having worked in a number of schools across two countries over the past twenty years. Throughout my education career, I have experienced many different roles including Deputy Principal, Level 3 Teacher, Specialist Teacher in Physical Education and Science, Curriculum Leader and Cohort Leader. My philosophy is driven by my firm belief that every student can succeed.
I have enjoyed many highlights in my teaching career, my first teaching position in a New Zealand school, merit select positions at Kinross Primary and Brighton Primary School (now renamed Butler Primary School) and I am extremely proud to now be a part of the Mullaloo Heights Primary School Community.
I look forward to working with staff, students and the community into the future to achieve the best possible outcomes for the students of Mullaloo Heights Primary School.
I was born and raised in Perth but moved to Sydney after meeting my husband. During that time I studied at TAFE and became qualified with a Diploma in Early Childhood Studies. Whilst working at a variety of centres with children and families from a range of different cultural backgrounds I was appointed Room Leader, Authorised Supervisor as well as in charge of Trainees.
After 10 years in Sydney I relocated back to Perth to be closer to family and begin one of my own. Whilst working at Australia Post for 5 years however, I discovered my lifelong passion lay in working with children. I gained further experience at Beldon Education Support Centre before being recommended to accompany one of their students to transition into mainstream here at Mullaloo Heights P.S where I became his EA for a year.
I am currently in my second year of overseeing the MiniLit program and have had the opportunity of working with other children requiring further assistance in a classroom setting. Watching children achieve their milestones and goals has further motivated me to give back to the community by becoming a board member. I am fortunate enough to be a part of Mullaloo Heights P.S staff and proud to represent the school‘s ethos of inclusivity, resilience and perseverance between staff, students and the wider community.
Kate Doleman - Staff Representative
I am fortunate to have held a position at Mullaloo Heights since 2019, where I have had the opportunity to teach students in Pre-Primary and Year 1. I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues and have worked with the Early Childhood team to implement programs such as Letters and Sounds and Talk for Writing.
Prior to working at Mullaloo Heights, I have had a variety of experiences working with children in school and education support settings, as well as teaching dance classes and working in childcare centres. I have a strong philosophy on catering for the diverse needs of every learner through the creation of a holistic learning environment and strong teaching pedagogy. I look forward to continuing my role as a teacher at Mullaloo Heights and I am delighted to have the opportunity to be a member of the School Board.
