Principal’s Message
The weather attempted to thwart our Cross Country Faction Cross Country this year. With the consistent rain over the past few weeks, we wondered if we’d ever find a dry slot for our children to run. Luckily, last Thursday morning provided just enough sunshine for every class to race. Once again, the competition was a lovely reminder of how caring and supportive our students are. They cheered loudly for students who struggled as they crossed the Finish Line and offered comfort where it was needed. Good grace was shown by our winning students and, in turn, they were congratulated by fellow competitors, despite any disappointment that might have been felt. Of course, the success of the event was also the result of hard work and efficient organisation. Mrs Di Thorby usually organises this competition, but in her absence, Mrs Alice Vickers volunteered and we are very pleased she did. Those of you who attended will agree, she did an excellent job and the event ran like clockwork. We would like to give thanks for her hard work. In addition, we would like to thank Mr Heron and the members of staff who helped Mrs Vickers set up the oval early that morning. They worked through the pouring rain, determined that the race would go ahead and be a success. Congratulations to Albatross Faction for winning the overall event and the individuals who won each race. Their names are outlined below, along with photos. Enjoy these, while you look forward to the remaining events of Term 3. Next week is the Lightning Carnival and in the final week we have the Edu Dance concert to enjoy. It’s all happening at Mullaloo Heights
Have a lovely weekend.

Talent Assembly
What an amazing array of talent we have at Mullaloo Heights; dancing, singing and playing instruments to are few examples of the talent on show at the assembly yesterday. What was really impressive was the motivation our students who volunteered for this event. Many have spent the last few weeks practising in their own time, including recess, lunch and weekends, to ensure their acts were performance perfect. Well done everyone; you are all stars!

Parent Information
Triple P Seminar Series - Kindy to Year 5
Self-esteem - By Professor Matt Sanders
Children who have healthy self-esteem are likely to be happy, cooperative, and successful at school and make friends easily. They are fun people to be around because they are eager to learn and succeed, and because they cope with stress effectively.
However, self-esteem doesn’t come built-in at birth. As parents, it is important that we help our children develop a true sense of their own strengths and weaknesses.
Children who receive plenty of praise and encouragement feel good about themselves. A child who believes their parents have confidence in them by allowing them to do certain things by themselves will learn confidence. Telling your child, you love them and spending time with them will help your child feel valued and cared for.
It is important also to encourage children to follow a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise and good grooming habits help children develop a positive image of themselves. And when your child achieves at something you can let them know that they should feel good about such accomplishments — it is okay to be different and be good at different things.
Parenting Tip: Laughter really is a great medicine. Children who feel good about themselves laugh spontaneously, develop a sense of humour and learn to tell funny stories. Encourage your child to laugh by listening to their stories, playing games and having fun together.
Please express your interest in attending a whole day Seminar Series in Term 3 Week 2- Thursday 1st August 2019 9am-2:30pm, in the Science/Art room – Morning tea and lunch provided. Contact Mullaloo Heights PS on (08)6206 2100
