Principal’s Message

Caroline Booth

As I write the final newsletter of the year, I can’t help but reflect on how much we have crammed into 2017. It has been a positive and rewarding year in many ways. Our first review as an Independent Public School immediately comes to mind. The resulting report validated the work we are doing at Mullaloo Heights and gave us a clear direction for continued school improvement. Moreover, it commended our safe working environment and the strong relationship with our parent body. This is something of which we are already acutely aware, largely because of the continued support we receive from parents. The big events of the year could not happen without your help. This year there have been many - Athletics Carnivals, One Big Voice, Book Week, Swimming Carnival, Family Fun Day and Book Fairs, just to name a few! Thank you!

As I have already said, it has been a busy year with the final events of the term providing a perfect ending. The Book Award Assembly celebrated the achievements of students for a wide variety of reasons - perseverance, progress and showing kindness to others, as well as academic performance, for example. This is a reflection of the importance we place at Mullaloo Heights on the development of the whole child and their acquisition of our core values.

The Graduation Ceremony, led by new head boy and girl, Archer and Scarlett, was a poignant opportunity to focus on our current Year 6 students and their contribution to Mullaloo Heights over the years. The students shared the highlights of their time here and their ambitions and hopes for the future. I can honestly say, their impact on our school has been huge. They have been great role models for our younger students and will be remembered with fondness and respect. We wish them all the best for the adventures yet to come.

Finally, our family Fun Day on Tuesday was a whole school reward for our students’ hard work and positive effort this year. It was a great finish to the term made more enjoyable by our students’ determination to have great fun. It was wonderful to see them enjoying themselves, having earned this treat and their forthcoming holiday.

I would like to take this final opportunity to wish parents, students and staff a wonderful Christmas. Thank you for your positive support throughout the year. We hope you have a really great holiday and well-earned rest.

Happy Christmas and see you all in 2018.

Family Fun Day

The whole school had a blast on our Family Fun Day. There were lots of activities to try, including a giant Slip n’ Slide, a bouncy castle, giant soccer balls, wet sponges and parachute relay races, just to name a few. Our students tried them all and worked up quite an appetite as they worked through each one. Luckily, the morning finished with a pizza lunch and an icy pole, organised by our hard working P&C. They also generously donated the Slip n’ Slide and Bouncy castle for this fun event - thank you! Have a look at the photos from this fantastic day.

Gift from our Graduating Students - Buddy Bench

This year, the Year Sixes hosted a Final Fundraising Festival to raise money to purchase a 'Buddy Bench' as a gift from the 2017 Year Six graduates. The 'Buddy Bench' can be used if someone is feeling a little down and takes a seat on it. If they are spotted, they may be asked to join in a game or asked to play. The 'Buddy Bench' acts as a way of showing support to all students at MHPS.

Outback Splash

Jaz - On the 8th December, our class graduated and we got to go to Outback Splash. It was incredibly fun! I had a ham and salad wrap and it was yummy. My favourite slide was the inflatable one. I hope to back there one day.

Kate - Outback Splash was so, so, so fun! My favourite slide was The Plummet. It was so fun because you went so fast!

Jackson - On the 8th of December, the Year 6 graduates went to Outback Splash. We all had a great time going down slides and it was a graduation to remember.

Ella - I loved Outback Splash, especially The Plummet. It was so FUN! It was incredible going on the jumping pillow. I loved every minute of Outback Splash. It was amazing that I got to go!

Leah - On the 8th December, we went to Outback Splash. There were waterslides, a bouncy castle, animals and a giant waterslide called The Plummet. It was a blown up waterslide. It was so fun!

Daniel M - At Outback Splash, I enjoyed The Plummet but the jumping pillow was the best! All the slides were so much fun.
