Welcome back to Term 3. I trust you all had a wonderful holiday and are ready for a busy and productive term ahead. Term 3 is filled with Athletics Carnivals, Book Week events and Open Night. Please ensure you keep up to date with everything by checking the term planner, downloading the latest version of SZapp and reading the Connect messages from your child’s teacher.
Term 2 concluded with the ever-popular crazy sock and pizza day coordinated by the P&C.
The relationship between the school and home is vital in providing a well-rounded and positive education experience for the students. If you have a concern, question or query please reach out to the class teacher either in person or via email.
As the weather cools it is lovely to see that families have embraced our new teal pullover jumper, the feedback from the students is that it is warm and comfortable. These can be purchased from Uniform Concepts or ordered online. A friendly reminder that in accordance with our School Dress Code, which was endorsed by the school board, leggings are to be worn under the skorts and dresses not by themselves. Leggings can be black, teal or red.
I wish to congratulate Michelle Smith for being appointed School Officer Tuesday – Thursday and alternate Fridays. Michelle is well known across the school and in the community. Michelle will be continuing her role as Education Assistant on Monday and alternative Fridays. We also welcome Laura Shields as our new permanent cleaner.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial, or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognize the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools.
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools.
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
A message from the School Board Chair - Connor Allbury
The School Board met twice over Term 2, with the predominant focus of our meetings revolving around Big Childcare (thank you to all the parents that provided feedback in the recent survey) and MHPS’ upcoming Public-School Review. The aim of a Public-School Review is to measure how the school is performing across a range of areas against the Education Departments expectations. Our previous Public-School Review had a number of recommendations that Trudy and the school leadership team have been busy implementing. This should hold us in good stead for our upcoming review.
We have an 'open' board meeting coming up on Wednesday 14th August from 5:30PM which I'd love to invite you to - it will be a good opportunity for you to see who is on the board and how the board operates as well as meet Dr James Kent – Principal Ocean Reef Senior High School and a Representative from Big Childcare.
We welcome Maicey, Ayden, Cooper and Hayden to the role for Semester 2, they have already made a great start helping out our Head Boy and Head Girl, Quinn and Sophie and they are learning their new roles quickly.
We are truly fortunate at Mullaloo to have such a dedicated team of student leaders.
Here is a photo of the Semester 2 Student Leaders.
Each fortnight the school focuses on one Learner Disposition. The students are explicitly taught what the Disposition means, how it is helpful to become a positive learner and they award one student from their class a Learner Disposition award at our Line Up. This week we congratulated these students for showing the Learner Disposition of Innovate. The spotlight for the next fortnight is on Courageous.
