We extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the P&C for organizing the Mother’s Day Morning Tea on May 10th. The sun shone brightly, and we were delighted by the remarkable response to this event. It was a special time for mothers, aunties, and grandmas to visit the school and spend quality moments with their children. The delicious food, coffee van, and exciting raffle prizes made the occasion even more memorable. We deeply appreciate the effort and dedication that goes into organizing such events.
Premier’s Reading Challenge: The Premier’s Reading Challenge is back this term, and registrations are now open. We encourage all families to participate by following this link to register: Premier's Reading Challenge - Premier's Reading Challenge (premiersreadingchallenge.wa.edu.au). The challenge is to read and log 12 or more books during the challenge period, which runs until September 6th. Mrs. Bowe has provided each child with a bookmark, and fantastic prizes await those who complete the challenge.
Kindy and Pre-Primary Enrolments: Enrolments for Kindergarten and Pre-Primary for the year 2025 are now open. Interested families can book weekly school tours online or through the front office. We look forward to welcoming new members to our school community.
Health and Absences: As we enter the winter months, we’ve noticed an increase in illness across the school. We sincerely thank parents for keeping unwell children at home, which helps reduce the spread of colds and flu within the class. If your child is absent, please inform the school via SZapp, email, phone call, or by responding to text messages.
Remember that regular attendance matters. Under Western Australian law, parents must send their children to school unless they are unwell, have an infectious disease, or provide an acceptable reason. Acceptable reasons include:
- A rash with itching and fever
- Vomiting within the last 48 hours
- Constant phlegm/mucus or chest coughing.
- Diarrhea within the last 48 hours
- Untreated head lice
- Temperature above 38 degrees within the last 24 hours
- Eye infection (redness, itchiness, or discharge)
- Recent hospitalization without clearance to return to school.
While we understand that family vacations and travel plans sometimes fall within school terms, such absences are not recommended or supported by the Department of Education. If you encounter difficulties getting your child to school, please reach out to the class teacher, Mr. Adlam, or myself. We are here to provide support and guidance.
Thank you for being part of the Mullaloo Heights community!
Next Friday is 65 Roses Day where we are supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by selling roses before school in the under cover area for $5.00. The students have been creating their own roses for a beautiful display. Please support this worthy cause.

Our first assembly for the year was hosted by the year 3 children from room 5. They did a fabulous job and reminded us all of the importance of resilience and staying strong in the face of adversity with their poem "The Hope-o-potamus." They followed this with a lively dance to the song "Believer." Truly inspirational!
We held our ANZAC Service on Wednesday April 24 to recognise the significance of this important occasion in our history and to recognise the contribution of all the men and women who have served and passed in wars.
This event was led by our student leaders and opened with Coco reading her ANZAC inspired poem before Quinn and Sophie described some of the history behind ANZAC Day and the Gallipoli campaign. This was followed by the laying of the wreath by some of our senior councillors. The school choir sang ‘Spirit of ANZAC’ beautifully.
Our guest speaker, Mr Hill, a retired serviceman spoke to the audience about his experience in the armed forces and the importance of ANZAC Day. The ceremony concluded with students having the opportunity to place flowers at the base of the flagpole.
We are very thankful to Mr Hill, and also have ex-serviceman Mr Cameron for attending our service.
It was wonderful to come together as a school community to commemorate ANZAC day.
Lest We Forget
Caitlin Collins MLA of Hillarys, came to visit our new Science room and was able to join in the activities of sorting liquids and solids and learning the parts of flowers through creating playdough ones.
