Kaya families
As term 1 draws to a close, we reflect on what a productive and exciting term we have had. The highlight of the term had to be the Edu-Dance concert where our students showcased their incredible dance moves. The year 4-6 students were fortunate to be involved in the Faction Swimming Carnival, we were all challenged through the World of Maths Incursion. I trust that parents found the parent -teacher interviews as valuable as the teachers have. Congratulations must go to the year 3 and 5 students who took part in NAPLAN this term. It was a special treat that the fire brigade came to support our Bushfire Drill and we have celebrated Harmony Day through a variety of buddy activities. We conclude the term with the ever popular Crazy Sock Day and Hot Cross Bun fundraiser for the P&C.
I have been amazed at the quality and quantity of learning from students across the school as they bring their work up to share with me. It is evident that the students have engaged positively with their learning and are embracing our Learner Dispositions:
-
Ownership
-
Collaborate
-
Innovate
-
Curious
-
Courageous.
Please enjoy browsing the photos of the various events in this newslettter.
I would like to thank the P&C for supporting all of our events this term and the school board for endorsing the 2023 Annual Report, 2024-2027 Business Plan, and approving the school budget. I encourage all parents to familiarise themselves with the 2024-2027 Business Plan as this sets the direction for the school for the next 4 years. The 2023 Annual Report is a summary of the 2023 school year, our achievements, data analysis and financial position. Both documents will be available on the school website.
In the second week of the school holidays we will be having work begin to upgrade our alarm system. This will involve digging trenches and laying cables, the work will extend into term 2, however it will not affect the school operations.
I would like to wish all families a safe and restful break and I look forward to seeing you all back refreshed and ready for Term 2.
Take care, stay safe
Trudy Jones

Tuesday 12th March, was the first day of running club for 2024! What a fabulous turn out we had! Students in Year 1-6 can run, jog or walk as many laps as they can between 8am and 8.20am. Laps are recorded and will be converted into kms at the end of each term. It's not too late to join in the fun and fitness with friends!
On the 5th and 6th March, Phys Ed classes were treated to AFL clinics run by coaches Mitchell, Will and Deakin. The students had a great time learning AFL skills such as kicking and handball and applying these to different games. A highlight was "who could kick the furthest" and trying to beat the coaches! If anyone is interested in playing AFL our local club is Ocean Ridge.
Welcome to Ocean Ridge Football Club, established in 1978 and rooted at Heathridge Park for over two decades, we are committed to celebrating the sport of football and fostering a vibrant local community. On Tuesday 26th of March some Phys Ed classes had the opportunity to participate in a Rugby Clinic. Coach "Scott" from Rugby WA came out and played modified games with rugby skills such as "Outback Attack" and "Roos vs Rangers". If students are interested in playing rugby our local club is Joondalup Brothers.
