Kaya families
It is incredible to think that half the school year has gone. It was a pleasure reading the school reports this semester, I urge all families to take the time to read the report and reflect with your child on their achievements, progress and set a couple of goals for Semester 2.
I am especially proud and grateful for the wonderful manner in which the Semester 1 Student Councillors have taken on their roles. Chase B., Cameron F., Flynn O. and Gina T. have all worked together, completed their roles and have been there to lend a hand at any time. Congratulations to you all, the leadership skills you have learnt this semester will stay with you into high school and beyond.
The second half of this term has been event filled including: the exciting Bike Day; a visit from Constable Care; the Year 5 students had the opportunity to be taught by a science specialist and experience the science laboratory at Ocean Reef Senior High School; after a quick change of date due to poor weather we were able to hold the faction cross country and the students who participated in the interschool lightning carnival are to be commended for their sportsmanship, resilience and determination. To finish the term, we were entertained and developed our understanding of the Indigenous Culture in the NAIDOC week incursion. Please enjoy scrolling through the photo gallery for these events later in the newsletter.
We all love your cute furry friends, and it is wonderful to see families walking to school, often with their dogs. A gentle reminder that dogs are not permitted within the school grounds, whether in your arms or on a lead. We have many students who have a fear of dogs and others who have allergies, by allowing dogs on the school grounds it is also difficult to monitor the inevitable interaction between dogs and people which may not always be positive.
If your child has lost a jacket, lunchbox, or hat the chances are it is in the lost property box which is located outside the office. Please check and claim any items that belong to your family.
In the first week of Term 3, I will be taking Long Service Leave. As many would be aware, public-sector employees are required to clear their Long Service Leave within two years. In my absence, our highly respected and experienced Deputy Principal Mr Michael Adlam will be acting Principal. Thank you to Mr Adlam for his leadership.
I hope everyone enjoys the up-and-coming holiday I encourage all families to participate in the Holiday Value Program, this holiday focuses on Resilience and Persistence.
Take care, stay safe.
Trudy Jones

Mullaloo Heights students turned out in large numbers to mark World Bicycle Day on Friday June 2nd. A beautiful sunny day greeted the riders as over 100 bikes took to the oval during lunchtime where two courses were setup. The cyclists were flying over jumps & wobble boards, swerving through markers and cones with plenty of thrills and laughter, and a few tired legs as well. After lunch, our Pre-Primary students enjoyed their bike course which was setup on the astro turf.
We had 101 bikes and 16 scooters participate in our 2023 Bike Day. During the week we will also have a greater focus on the benefits of riding and important messages regarding bike safety.
Some student quotes from the day:
“I liked going on the jumps, it was so much fun.” (Koda Y1)
“Bike Day was so much fun, I burnt up lots of energy doing my tricks.” (Kane Y3)
“It was the best day of the term and I recommend we do it again.” (Grace Y5)
“Bike Day was awesome. I loved showing off my rad, gnarly tricks.” (Addison Y5)
“Riding our bikes was a lot of fun, I really liked the ramps. I hope we can do it again.” (Callum Y6)
Great effort by our students and we are so pleased you had a wonderful day!
Thanks,
Mr Adlam

Year 5 Ocean Reef SHS Science program
Over the past 5 weeks, students in year 5 have had the great opportunity in participating in 5 engaging hands on Science lessons with a Science Specialist Teacher from Ocean Reef SHS. The first 3 of these lessons were based at Mullaloo Heights PS, and the final 2 lessons, students went to Ocean Reef SHS.

We hope everyone enjoyed the inaugural Mother’s Day morning tea. It was a great success and so lovely to be able to spend some time with our kids! Thanks to everyone who donated a prize and all the volunteers who made the event so special.
19 May was P&C Day and we hope all the kids enjoyed a treat from the P&C on the day. We just love giving back to the kids.
We also have P&C Cards that Count coming up again this year. Keep an eye out on the Facebook page for all the info.
Today the kids will have enjoyed P&C Crazy Sock End of Term Pizza Day. Thank you for supporting all our P&C events so far this year. All money raised goes straight back to our school to the benefit of our kids. This year we have already approved nearly $5k in teacher wish list items to make the kids learning experiences more enjoyable and nearly $3K in subsidies for incursions and excursions to make them more affordable for everyone and it’s only Term 2!
Are you looking for an awesome part time job next year and love kids and food! Well, have we got the job for you! Our illustrious Canteen Manager Bree will be leaving us next year and we need someone to fill that role. Email us with your CV at mullalooheightspandc@gmail.com if you’re interested.
