Welcome back to Term 2. What a wonderful start to the term we have had. The students and staff have settled into their teaching and learning routines and it is great to see the high level of engagement with the students. Well done to those families who took on the Values Challenge over the holiday. There is still time to return your challenge sheet to your teacher to gain 5 Dojo points and go in the draw for a canteen voucher.
It was fantastic to be able to have an in-person ANZAC service on Wednesday, I thank Mr Adlam for his coordination of the event and congratulate our student leaders who performed their roles with the respect and dedication it deserved. Enjoy reading the article and browsing the photos in this newsletter.
Regular attendance is important because it ensures that learning is not disrupted, and regular learning enhances the building blocks for the future. Research has also proven that regular attendance helps students develop social skills, teamwork skills, communication skills and have a healthy self-esteem. With regular attendance, teachers can better understand your child's individual education needs and create programs to address any learning difficulties. By working in partnership to maintain a high level of attendance, student achievement will be maximised.
We are now open for Kindergarten and Pre-Primary enrolments for 2024. This term I will be hosting school tours for new enrolments, these can be booked in via our website at https://www.mullalooheightsps.wa.edu.au/bookings-for-school-tours

On Wednesday, our ANZAC Service was held to recognise the significance of this important occasion in our history.
The ceremony began with Coco and Serafina reading their very considerate poems they had written. These poems can be read below. Our School Leaders, Kaden and Layla showed great respect when leading the ceremony and described the history behind ANZAC Day and the Gallipoli campaign.
Our guest speaker, Mr Baker from the Joondalup Branch of the RSL, spoke to the students and described some of the history behind ANZAC Day and the Gallipoli campaign, and outlined Australia’s contribution to peace keeping across the globe. This was followed by the laying of the wreath by some of our senior students. The school choir then sang ‘Sprit of ANZAC’ beautifully.
The ceremony concluded with students placing flowers at the base of the flagpole. During this time, special guest, Mr Sinclair played his bagpipes in a very moving performance as students left the area.
The ceremony included a display which was generated by the students. As part of this, each student and staff member coloured an individual poppy to honour all those who serve or have served in the armed forces to make a colourful display.
We are very grateful to Mr Baker and Mr Sinclair for taking the time to attend our service. Our senior students can be very proud of the way they carried out the various roles during the service.
We would like to thank all the entire audience who attended for their respect during the service.

Play in the Past - HASS Incursion
Dear Parents/Carers,
In History, students have been learning about the past and present. As a part of our units, students from Room 5, 6, 7 and 8 will engage in a History morning, including an incursion from Play in the Past on Thursday the 25th of May.
Throughout the morning, students will engage in a variety of olden days activities. During the Play in the Past incursion, students will get to learn about, explore, inquire and play with a wide range of vintage items to support their understanding of change over time. Students will participate in a short discussion before igniting their curiosity by rotating through a range of hands-on stations. The interactive stations will explore a range of concepts such as communication, technology, cooking, entertainment, toys and school through the ages.
On the day, students will need to come dressed in olden days clothing. We are also looking for 12 parent helpers, 3 from each class, to help with the activities on the day. If you would like to help, please contact your classroom teacher via email. The activities will run from approximately 9am-12:30pm.
