All families in Years 3 and 5 should have received a NAPLAN brochure by now. If yours has been misplaced, you can find it attached to this newsletter. NAPLAN is scheduled to take place over a 9-day testing window beginning Tuesday 10 May.
This will mean that students will complete the NAPLAN Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy tests online, excluding the Year 3 Writing test which will still be delivered using paper. If you have any questions regarding the series of assessments, please contact myself or the classroom teacher.
Students are invited to use the public demonstration tests to familiarise themselves with the types of questions and related functionalities available in the online NAPLAN assessment. Some of the key features include a range of question types, onscreen tools, timers and interactive navigation. Students are encouraged to try all the tests for their year level to practise the complete range of question formats available.
The public demonstration site can be found at the below link: https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site
Thank you

The new school board met a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, due to Covid, we were unable to meet in person and had a virtual meeting. Three new parent representatives have joined the School Board. They are Connor Allbury, Paul Fildes and Rhiannon Fox. Each of these parents come from a range of different professional backgrounds and are eager to actively participate and support MHPS. During Term Two, members of the school board will be participating in training to ensure that we are a productive school board with clear goals.
I am thrilled to be nominated as Chairperson and look forward to working with Trudy Jones, the Board and the school community to ensure our school STRIVES to be the best it can be. My background is in education and I have recently returned to secondary teaching part time. Teaching during a pandemic has been interesting and has presented challenges. The school board would like to acknowledge the efforts of all MHPS school staff throughout the pandemic. Parents have been kept in the loop about social distancing, masks mandates, close contacts and isolation requirements. We would like to thank parents and older students for their cooperation regarding mask wearing and social distancing. It is a challenging time and continuously changing. If you are unsure of the requirements at any stage, please speak with your classroom teacher or contact the general office.
Best wishes for the Easter Holidays.

School Board Chair
