Welcome to the final newsletter of term 1. I would like to begin by congratulating all the students for the fantastic start to the year they have had. At Mullaloo Heights, we nurture lifelong learners by encouraging our students to be collaborative, working together to achieve success; curious, always asking questions and seeking new knowledge; and courageous, embracing challenges with confidence. We inspire them to innovate, thinking creatively to solve problems, and take ownership of their learning, showing responsibility and pride in their growth. These dispositions empower our students to strive in school and beyond! Congratulations to the Learner Disposition award recipients for Collaborate and Curious this term.

I have had the pleasure of welcoming some remarkable students into my office, where they have proudly shared their learning achievements with me. It has also been inspiring to witness the outstanding design and technology projects taking shape throughout our school. The Kindy students had a lot of fun finding Easter Eggs this week and playing with their friends. I invite you to enjoy this gallery showcasing the wonderful learning happening here.

Autism Awareness Day
April 2nd was Autism Awareness Day we encouraged the students to wear a blue T-Shirt and bring in a gold coin to support Autism Association of WA. During the week the students learnt more about Autism Spectrum Disorder and how they can support and be a good friend to those with Autism. We also hosted a morning tea for parents with children with Autism which was a lovely way to connect and support each other. The students raised over $240 which is a fantastic effort. Thank you all for supporting.
This term, we bid farewell to Mrs. Jacquelyn Prosper-Watson as she prepares to welcome her second child. We wish her all the best during this exciting time! In her place, we warmly welcome Mr. Rhys Sutherland as our Music Specialist for the remainder of the year. Mr. Sutherland is a highly experienced and respected Music teacher, who also teaches at Joondalup Primary School. We look forward to his contributions and know you will join us in welcoming him to the Mullaloo Heights community.
We were pleased to see a fantastic turnout at this year’s parent-teacher interviews, with 86% of parents attending. The introduction of our new booking system, along with the department’s support in closing the school for half a day, highlighted the value we place on strong communication between teachers and parents. This partnership is essential in ensuring the best possible educational outcomes for our students.
Late next term, we will be transitioning to the Department of Education’s new data management system, which will streamline student information, attendance, events, calendars, and parent notifications. More details will be shared with parents via SZapp throughout the term.
As we head into the school holidays, I wish all our families a safe and restful break and look forward to seeing you all on Monday 28th April for Term 2.
Kind RegardsTrudy Jones

STRIVE, our school motto, and it expresses the commitment to doing your best and encourages continuous improvement.
At our assembly last week, our Term 1 Strive Award was presented. This award recognises a student for their exemplary citizenship, their contribution to our school, and their strive to be the very best they can be.
Well done to Sophie C, the winner of this special Mullaloo Heights Award.
Congratulation, Sophie.
Remembering ANZAC Day has always been an important tradition at our school. Yesterday, we held our ANZAC Service to honour the significance of this historic occasion and to acknowledge the contributions of all the men and women who have served and passed in wars.
This event was led by our Student Leaders, Poppy and Eli described some of the history behind ANZAC Day and the Gallipoli campaign. Our guest speaker, Mr Hill, from the Joondalup Branch of the RSL, spoke to the students about the importance of service - not just to your country, but to your community and in everyday life.
Following this, our students participated in the laying of the wreath and flag protocols, undertook a minutes silence, and listened to the Rouse. The Ode was then read by Mrs Jones. The school choir beautifully sang ‘Can You Hear The Children Marching’. Our service also included some of our Year 6 students reading their ANZAC inspired poems.
The ceremony concluded with students placing flowers at the base of the flagpole. During this time, special guest, Mr Sinclair played his bagpipes in a very moving performance as students left the area.
The service also included a stunning display of ceramic poppies placed near our flagpole. This display was created by our Year 1-6 students working with our Art teacher, Mrs. Zuchetti. Each poppy was crafted by a student to honour all those who serve, or have served in the armed forces. Among our other displays were pieces from the ‘Sands of Gallipoli’ series, which tell the story of Gallipoli through medallions and include a vial of actual Gallipoli sand, kindly loaned to us by Mr. Heron. Additionally, a very special book titled Australian Chivalry was on display. This book, dated 1933, contains wartime illustrations and paintings and was generously loaned to us by the King family. We were very fortunate to have these special artifacts as part of our display.
We are very thankful to Mr Hill and Mr Sinclair for giving up their time to attend our service.
It was wonderful to come together as a school community to commemorate ANZAC day.

Thank you,
Michael Adlam
Room 5’s assembly was a wonderful way to celebrate harmony and diversity as we begin to wrap up a term filled with inclusivity. Students shared greetings from different languages and performed "I Can Sing a Rainbow" in AUSLAN, highlighting the beauty of communication in many forms. It was a joyful reminder that our differences make us stronger together!

Mullaloo Heights Primary School had the wonderful and amazing Musica Viva perform to our students. We were fortunate to have three professional musicians visit the school presenting “Music of the World”, the music of Ireland, America, Italy, and Eastern Europe. Students learnt about the musical traditions of these regions and their people, and have the chance to reflect on their own. The children got to dance and sing with the artists. It was just a delight to see the children so happy listening and watching the performers. Mr Cann got to have a sing along on stage also.
Students in year's 4, 5 and 6 were tasked with sewing love bugs for all the children in the school so that buddy classes could participate in a love bug hunt on Harmony Day. Some students made over 5 each with the top sewer completing 18! Some students also took felt, needles and thread and stuffing home so that they could sew them after school. This morning the top sewers from each class hid love bugs for all the students in their class and their buddy class and then students headed out to search. Junior students were so excited to find and then keep the love bug that they found. It also brought up conversations of inclusivity and how sometimes, just because a love bug might look a little different, or not have both it's eyes, or perhaps have a little bit of stuffing falling out, we shouldn't judge and leave them behind but embrace ALL love bugs for who they are and perhaps give some of them a little extra love!
